TL;DR: I designed a visually striking social media post for Nike, capturing the essence of movement and freedom through skateboarding. The design process focused on energy, clarity, and brand alignment, utilizing a strong layout and bold typography to reinforce Nike’s identity.
Design Process:
Initial Concept:
Selected an image of a skateboarder mid-trick, wearing Nike sneakers, to emphasize motion and athleticism.
Chose the tagline "No Limits. No Rules. Just Motion." to reflect Nike’s ethos of pushing boundaries and embracing movement.
Layout and Composition:
Positioned the text on the left side for balance and to maintain focus on the skater.
Placed the Nike swoosh logo slightly below the text to create a strong brand presence without overpowering the composition.
Typography and Color:
Used a bold, modern sans-serif font to communicate power and action.
Increased the weight of "Just Motion." to make the key message stand out.
Applied a subtle Gaussian blur behind the text to enhance contrast and readability while preserving the raw, urban aesthetic.
Choice of Elements:
Image:
Selected a dynamic, action-oriented skateboarding image to align with Nike’s themes of movement and self-expression.
Tagline:
Crafted a short, high-impact phrase that aligns with Nike’s motivational and boundary-pushing messaging.
Font:
Used a clean and bold typeface to ensure readability and maintain a modern, athletic feel.
Logo Placement:
Positioned the Nike swoosh close to the text for visual cohesion and brand recognition.
Reasoning Behind Choices:
Visual Impact: Designed to immediately capture attention through a high-energy composition and strong typography.
Brand Consistency: Maintained alignment with Nike’s branding through font choice, tagline, and logo placement.
Readability and Contrast: Applied subtle adjustments like a Gaussian blur to enhance text clarity without disrupting the background.
Emotional Connection: Reinforced Nike’s core message of movement and breaking limits, resonating with athletes and street culture enthusiasts.
